After completing your medical form in our office, Dr. Brandeis or Paul McBratney-Owen will want to hear about why you have come to the dentist. Your teeth, gums, and jaw joint will be thoroughly examined. An oral cancer screening is also always a part of our exams. Aspects of your lifestyle and health, such as diet and brushing habits, will be discussed. X-rays may be indicated in order to have a complete picture of the health of your teeth and gums.
After gathering all of the information about your mouth and listening to the concerns you would like addressed, your dentist will formulate a treatment plan. There are often a number of possible options, and Dr. Brandeis or Dr. Paul will discuss each of them with you.
Professional cleanings are done at a second appointment so that we can thoroughly clean your teeth and review good brushing and flossing techniques, which form the foundation of excellent preventive care.
If your first visit is an emergency, will address the source of acute discomfort first. A complete exam will be done at another appointment when there is not an emergency.
