We believe nothing is better than your own teeth, so we prefer dental treatments that retain your own tooth structure as much as possible. Sometimes, however, a tooth needs to be removed. Extractions can be indicated if a tooth is extensively decayed and not restorable, irreparably cracked or fractured, badly infected, or impacted. We also extract teeth for orthodontic reasons. There are a number of options for replacing an extracted tooth, such as implants, dentures, and bridges. Dr. McBratney-Owen will be happy to discuss which tooth replacement options may be best for you if you’ve had a tooth removed.
